1. Larry Brown

Background

Sloan was the first fully deaf player to ever play in the NFL. Born deaf, he played college football at Austin Peay State University before being drafted in 1973. Background

Kenny Walker, who became deaf at the age of two due to meningitis, played collegiately at the University of Nebraska, where he was an All-American. He was drafted in the 8th round of the 1991 NFL Draft and played two seasons with the Broncos. Walker’s story has been an inspiration to many in the Deaf community. He later became a coach for the Gallaudet Football team in 2010.

 4. Derrick Coleman

Background

Derrick Coleman was diagnosed with bilateral hearing loss at age 3. Despite doubts about his ability to play professional football, he broke through and became the first legally deaf offensive player in NFL history.
